A Flora Post

We create a lot of art glass and that includes custom pieces with various types of plant life. Tress, flowers, cacti, and leaves grace many of our works leaving our clients with a lovely, natural piece. These give you a view of the garden of your dreams, match the decor of your home, and add a level of privacy.

Our designers work with our clients to get an idea of what they like, and these creators go to work making a custom piece that fits the space! You can see some of our plant creations below. We use textures, lead lines, colors, and bevels to create these pieces, combining elements for a multi faceted piece. Plus, since everything is custom, we create to the size or shape of the space the glass is going into. Things such as windows, doors, or showers are unique dimensions that we create to for a perfect fit.

For the Birds!

Here are some of the birds we have done in art glass overlay! They are some client favorites including local birds to Southern California. These pieces are full of color and look amazing backlit.

Our designers work with our clients to set the scene and we work to recreate what they have in mind. Some of these focus on the birds and in others they are part of the scene. More details such as plants, the sun, the water, or the mountains are added. Often, our clients come to us to have a favorite space recreated in art glass, and we love to do it! This creates a custom recreation of a a memory that can live in your home and viewed whenever you need a pick me up.

The last two are images of work in progress - one shows just the lamination and the other shows the lead lines with the pattern behind it.

Birds of Paradise - Circular Glass

These birds of paradise stand out against a “glue chip” textured background. The green colors of the leaves have a wonderful, natural look to them and the color of the flowers pop next to them. This circular design looks great in front of a window or when it can be backlit. We can even add hooks and chain to these art glass overlay pieces so that it may be hung. Our designers can recreate your favorite flower in art glass for you to enjoy for years to come!

Dragonfly and Flowers Stained Glass Window

We love how the sun makes art glass glow with it’s beautiful back lighting. Art glass is a great way to add design and beauty to your home that can add privacy while letting the light shine in.

This piece features a variety of flowers topped with a dragonfly being carried away by it’s iridescent wings. The background uses the crossed lines of the Tudor style while being framed by a striking red stained glass. This art glass was wonderful to create and we love that our clients get to enjoy it in their home!

Framed Wave with a Peak of the Sun

This lovely piece took some time and effort to add those fine, squiggle lines! We even added glass globs for even more texture in the water. The focus is on the details of the wave, the sun peaking into the frame is the perfect balance to the scene. It really brings those beach feelings close to home and we know this piece looks amazing hanging on display for it owners. Our focus is creating custom art glass that our clients will love and treasure. Our designers work with our clients to create glass that matches their home, vacation spot, hobby, pets, and many other loves. Use art glass to create privacy in windows, intrigue on mirrors, or hanging art to divide the room.

It truly is wonderful knowing something you created is being enjoyed in someone’s home - which is why we love doing it!

Decorative & Private Door Insert

This is a small door insert that needed a little more privacy. it makes sense to us to add a little more element of design - especially to something you are going to spend time looking at often.

We worked with our clients in creating a geometric but flowing design made with mostly cool colors and a striking bar of burnt orange. Once the design is approved and the colors are chosen, we get to work creating the unique piece!

We love creating one of kind pieces of art, big or small, for our clients - it gives everyone a chance to be creative

Private Bathroom Tudor Window

This Tudor style window uses crossed lead lines on top of Glue Chip glass for a private bathroom that still lets the natural light in. It was made to match the nearby door to complete the classic design on the glass for this bathroom remodel. With our adhesive lead, we are able to add the design to a tempered piece of Glue Chip glass. Being tempered makes the glass stronger than regular glass and is safer which is great for windows. It can even be dual or triple glazed for a stronger, thicker window which will provide better insulation as well!

This mermaid is floating towards the surface and beautifully framing this mirror. Our stained glass overlay is perfect for getting what would be challenging designs in stained glass created for our clients projects. In this case, we have our fish and mermaid on one solid mirror creating a unique, custom looking glass.

Bamboo and Long Life Custom Window

This one is just so soothing to look it at. The frosted background is a perfect balance to the detailed bamboo. The bevel cluster means “Long Life”. The red glob adds further dimension and gives the work a focus point.

The obscured background provides privacy and lets you focus in on the work.

We hope it brings peace and long life to our wonderful clients!

This multi panel set of stained glass overlay has the design continue from one panel to the next. It really lightens up the hallway and adds a beautiful view as people pass by. This design features trees on a cliff overlooking a breaking waves and swooping birds. Clients work with our designers to get their ideal art glass created!

Overlay Dragon!

We have a special place in our hearts for mystical and magical designs, and a dragon is one of our favorite magic creatures!

We love how colorful it turned out and even searched for eyes to find the right one. If we can involve some mixed media to our designs, we will! The light background really makes the dragon pop and is perfect if you need some more privacy.

Small Lead & Bevel Flower

This design is actually on of our examples. It showcases a non color design using lead, bevels, and texture. We are able to create a lovely flower with leaves and a stem out of these items without incorporating color. These designs are great at not tying your home or office into a set of colors.

There are many different bevels to choose from to create modern and classic designs. This one uses a background texture called “Glue Chip” and is great for obscuring the view while looking beautiful!

Underwater Art Glass - Work in progress!

Designing is a big part of the process of creating art glass. Once the design is created, a full size hand drawn pencil version is created. If any adjustments at scale are needed, they are done at this point and the pattern is attached to the glass. Then we start adding the lead lines to one side.

The images below show a detail of the pencil work and the start of the lead lines. There are several steps in the fabricating process and this is just the beginning. It is important to put the lead lines down in the most secure order, so they can seem oddly spaced at the start. But, once all the lead lines are one, we flip the pattern over and tape it to the now leaded side. This gives us our lines to fill in with the color and textures. Once that side is complete, a new layer of lead lines are added over the color. After that, the art piece is complete and on to be placed in it’s setting!

Sandblasting Your Custom Design with Us!

We use a single stage sandblasting process to create etched designs in glass or mirrors. We work with our clients to create their custom design. It can be geometric like the the door and sidelites below, or logos, animals, flowers, words, and more. Our designers create the reverse of the design that will cover the parts of the glass not to be sandblasted - the smooth glass or mirror portion. The exposed areas are blasted with a consistent spray of sand that etches the surface of the glass creating the frosted look only where it is wanted! This process would also be great on colored glass such as blue or green.

And as always, our designers can work with you to create a design as private as you need it - block off certain areas and leave others exposed for the type of view you are looking for!
