Fall Bear and the Mountains

This is an art glass overlay piece with an Autumn flair. Since spooky Halloween is over, we are sharing this piece with browns, reds, and oranges. The leaf and acorn at the top just really feel like Fall to us!

Our designers love creating scenes in art glass such as this brown bear looking off in the distance. Hang it in front of a window to get the glow from the sun and change your view to something new!

Getting Creative with Art Glss Overlay!

Nick and Jade worked on choosing the colors for our designs, and did all the marking, cutting, leading, cleaning and more needed to create these fun pieces! It is always great to keep learning and practicing, and art glass is a great creative outlet for it. We are so pleased that Penny and Brandy are able to pass on this knowledge that so few hold so we can keep creating our passion!

We are making pieces that can be hung by chain, perfect for in front of a window or a light. If you are looking for a custom design, contact us here! Our designers will pick your brain to create the perfect art glass overlay for your needs. Windows, tables, showers, and more can benefit with some decor through art glass overlay.

Small Lead & Bevel Flower

This design is actually on of our examples. It showcases a non color design using lead, bevels, and texture. We are able to create a lovely flower with leaves and a stem out of these items without incorporating color. These designs are great at not tying your home or office into a set of colors.

There are many different bevels to choose from to create modern and classic designs. This one uses a background texture called “Glue Chip” and is great for obscuring the view while looking beautiful!

Underwater Art Glass - Work in progress!

Designing is a big part of the process of creating art glass. Once the design is created, a full size hand drawn pencil version is created. If any adjustments at scale are needed, they are done at this point and the pattern is attached to the glass. Then we start adding the lead lines to one side.

The images below show a detail of the pencil work and the start of the lead lines. There are several steps in the fabricating process and this is just the beginning. It is important to put the lead lines down in the most secure order, so they can seem oddly spaced at the start. But, once all the lead lines are one, we flip the pattern over and tape it to the now leaded side. This gives us our lines to fill in with the color and textures. Once that side is complete, a new layer of lead lines are added over the color. After that, the art piece is complete and on to be placed in it’s setting!

Half Round Lead and Bevel Transom

This half circle of glass is called a half round and as a window above another window (or door), it is called a transom. This design type is sometimes called clear stained glass or lead and bevel. While lead and bevel can have color to it, it usually does not and instead lets the shapes created from the lead and the dimensional bevels do all showing off!

This glass was installed right up to the original window which will protect the art glass and provide a wonderful design that adds privacy. Because of the lack of color, it helps if you are thinking of selling your home and do not want someone locked into a certain color. Or maybe you love it so much, you take it with you! Of course, lead and bevel is loved by many and can be enjoyed in your home for years to come!

We love the leadlines drawing your eye to the diamond shaped bevels surrounded by the swooping curls of the lead. A contrasting texture follows the shape of the half round framing the design well. Since all of our glass, art glass and mirror is custom, we can create shapes beyond rectangles and circles. Golden Custom Designed Cabinet Door Glass

These cabinet doors had a custom art glass added to the center of the doors that added a great design element while keeping whats behind it hidden. Plus there is a delightful glow when light is shown through the glass!

If you are looking to add some art to your kitchen while hiding a possibly not so organized cabinet, art glass is the way to go! We combined color, silvery lead lines, and diamond shape bevel for this mirrored floral design. We love the “flow” of the background color and how it all compliments the light wood of the cabinet.

Our designers often take inspiration from the surroundings of where the art glass will be because sometimes are clients know they need a change but might not quite know what they want the final design to be. Working with our designers means you will get a creative and unique piece to complete your kitchen, office, bathroom, place of worship, or store front. We fully believe in add art to your life, especially when it is glass art!

PS: Wouldn’t that background color make a great lions mane?

Art Glass Peek a boo Owl!

This is a smaller piece we did with a cute owl peeking in from the corner of the image. The green foliage is getting a lot of its texture from the unique coloring that comes out when the green color was created. You can see also see this in the swooping lines in the gray part of the owl; because of this, no two pieces will be exactly alike. We even added black glass globs as the eyes which added more dimension to the piece. This is one of many animal pieces we have done, and as always, it was a lot of fun to create! To go from lines on a page to lead lines and glass is rewarding and we love flexing our creative muscles.
