Here is a close up the central bevel cluster of a panel. Bevel clusters art groups of glass bevels that are placed together to form a design. They are often more complex in the center of the panel with smaller clusters in the corners or on the sides. We love adding them to our art glass pieces, and the add a great bit of dimension and sparkle.

They are often used in door inserts, which you can see more of by clicking here, but our designers love using them in all types of projects! We even have round jewel style bevels in multiple colors, perfect for adding a spot of color or making a shining eye! We love to create and add that extra sparkle.

Lead and bevel, leadlite, or colorless stained glass is perfect for windows, doors, and entryways. Triple Glaze Golden Lead and Bevel Door Insert

This traditional stained glass door insert uses bevels, textured glass, and golden lead lines to create the colorless design. By being triple glazed, tempered glass protects the front and the back of the art glass. This helps protect from breaks and break ins by creating a stronger door insert. The textured glass used here is called Glue Chip and adds some privacy and obscurity to the door. The bevels are clear with some distortion at their beveled edges so you can still peek out at whoever is at your door.

The central bevels are arranged in a way that is reminiscent of a fleur-de-lis, framed by rectangular bevels and textured glass making a very balanced, traditional piece. Three Year Anniversary of Custom Art Glass Door Inserts

This week three years ago our designers started working on four inserts for a tall door we had recently been given. This was a chance to create something for the shoppe to show off our work and independent designs along with dividing up the space a little more. We used round bevels, blown glass rondels, textures, and lead to create a color free design flowing from one panel to the next. Traditionally this type of lead and bevel design would have an elaborate center and mirrored design, but we can break from tradition and create something new if the space (and client!) calls for it. We love creating art glass and learned all the “rules” so we can break or follow them for the sake of creating amazing glass art!

All of our glass and mirrors are custom made to fit your space, frame, or shape where mirror is needed. We can also polish or bevel the edges for a finished look. Our designers can add glass bevels and lead to the surface for a unique design on your mirror. We can also sandblast designs onto a mirror for a frosted white flower, logo, saying, creature, or whatever our designers can come up with! Combining stained glass and mirrors is also a gorgeous option combining this classic art with or on top of your mirror. Decorative mirrors are a perfect example of form and function - we use them daily, why not make them beautiful?
